Overview

Kōhi ("the App") is a coffee brewing journal for iOS. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

When you use Kōhi, we store the following data to provide the app's functionality:

• Account data: If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID email (or relay email) and display name. Anonymous users have a randomly generated user ID with no personal information.
• Brew data: Beans, recipes, brew logs, feedback ratings, and templates you create within the app.
• Preferences: Language, temperature unit, and app settings.

How We Store Data

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Authentication), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Each user's data is isolated under their unique user ID. No other user can access your data.

AI Features

Kōhi uses AI services (Anthropic Claude and DeepSeek) to power features like bag scanning, recipe insights, and experiment suggestions. When you use these features:

• Text from scanned labels or brew history is sent to the AI provider to generate structured responses.
• No images are sent — only extracted text.
• AI providers process requests without storing your data for training purposes.

What We Don't Do

• We do not sell your data to third parties.
• We do not use your data for advertising.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not collect location data.
• We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs beyond Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting.

Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports. This helps us fix bugs and improve stability. Crash reports contain device type, OS version, and stack traces — no personal data.

Camera

The app requests camera access for the bag scanner feature. Photos are processed on-device using Apple's Vision framework. No images are uploaded to any server.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings within the app.

Your Rights

You can:

• Export your data — available in Settings (export to JSON).
• Delete your account — available in Settings. This permanently removes all your data from our servers.
• Use the app without an account — anonymous mode requires no personal information.

Children

Kōhi is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
